Our First Field Trip

Our first field trip with Nick was to Imagination Station. Cameryn and Andrew were also there, but Ben was so busy running all over the place that we didn't get to see them much. Nick didn't get any pictures taken because he was in the Bjorn asleep the whole time. Overall, the trip was a success! I think our next adventure will be to the library this weekend or early next week. And if we get really adventurous, maybe Playland next Friday!!

The ambulance - for once Ben did not get in a fight over the steering wheel

The infamous fish - I don't know what it is, but he loves these fish

And then he had to line them up just so, in a straight line, evenly spaced apart...

And then roll them down the conveyor belt

The Sum of Two Engineers

What happens when two engineers get married and have kids? Little mini-engineers. Ben sometimes gets in a mood where things have to be just so. Here he is only using the alphabet blocks and they all have to be placed in the same orientation and lined up in a very straight line. Other things that have to be lined up and in a particular order include his Thomas choo choo trains, legos, his zoo animals and crayons. Though, he has not quite mastered the Roy G Biv order of crayons yet (but he and I are working on that!)

Thank you, Grandma!!

Grandma Mary headed home to New Orleans today after spending 2 weeks helping us all adjust to the newest addition to the family. Ben got lots of extra special attention and had lots of fun playing outside, building snowmen and baking cookies with Grandma. But now comes the real fun - seeing how well we all do with a 1 to 1 ratio of children to adults.

A Rare Event

A rare event - Nick was awake before noon the other day so I tried to take more pictures of him, but he wasn't too cooperative. If he's awake before noon, it is only to be fed. So far he is definitely a night owl.

Family Visits

We had lots of family visits this weekend. Auntie Dre and Uncle Kevin came on Saturday to see Nick and Ben. Nick even woke up for a little bit for them!

And then Great Grandma Jane, Aunt Kathy and Uncle John came over on Sunday.

Storytime

Cameryn came over to meet Nick and play with Ben. They played really well together and had a good time playing in the tent and with Mardi Gras beads. Then they went in Ben's room and both sat down and read books. I found it pretty amusing.

Visitors

Ben and Nick had some visitors on Thursday including my Aunt Carol who will be a grandma within a month or so and my friend Elaine.

A Peanut and a Brazilian Nut

Nick weighing in at approximately 8lbs and Ben weighing in at 29lbs. Quite a bit of a size difference.

A Little Banana / Oompa Loompa

Nick has jaundice, like Ben did. Nick's did not become apparent until Monday, though, when I noticed his skin was very colorful and then got him to open his eye only to see that the whites were yellow. We took him to the doctor and got blood work done. He doesn't nee the phototherepy like Ben got in the hospital when he was born, just to eat as much as possible so he can 'poop it out' basically. Hopefully it will be all cleared out in a few days. In the meantime, Nick is sporting quite the tan, which is more prominent in flash pictures and when held next to Ben who could use a little sun

Nick - 5 Days Old

Bath Time!

Nick's first bath - he was rather traumatized and screamed the entire time. But at least it kept him awake!

Mardi Gras Snowman

Ben and Grandma are making good use of the last of the snow. They actually had to make 2 snowmen today because the first one melted before I could take a picture of it.
