The Star Wars Theme

In addition to the gynmastics center, Nick also got a Star Wars theme. I made a BB-8 cake, we had an R2-D2 giant balloon, BB-8 balloons, and lots of decorations.

Parachute Fun

Birthday party fun with the giant parachute. Who doesn't love the parachute? The birthday boy got to sit in the middle and everyone spun around him and then pulled really hard to 'unwind' him.

Flip Flip Flop

Nick is quite the master of ring flips

Gymnastics Mayhem!

Nick had been talking for months and months about having his 5th birthday party at the YMCA gymnastics center. Every single time we drove by it (which was almost daily since it's down the street) all he would talk about was his upcoming birthday party. And he got his wish. The kids had a BLAST playing for an hour on the gymnastics floor. It was pure pandemonium.

BB-8 Cookie Pops

Are you seeing a theme here? I made BB-8 cookie pops for Nick to take to school for his birthday treat. The bottom is a double stuff Oreo and the top were mini nilla waffers, dipped in white chocolate. They were the hit of the Pre-K B crowd!

The Big F-I-V-E

And we officially have a five year old! Nick was so happy to finally be 5. It was all he had been talking about for, I swear, months.

Who Doesn't Love BB-8??

The weekend before Nick's birthday, we went to the mall (I can't really remember why). We walked past the Disney store (which I usually try to avoid) and they had tons of Star Wars stuff on the front table display. Nick immediately saw a BB-8 suitcase and wanted it. So, we decided he could get a BB-8 suitcase for his birthday. It's super cute! He gets to use it when we go to New Orleans for Easter.

A Mardi Gras Snowman

Ben had a school project in which they had to disguise a snowman. He decided to do a Mardi Gras snowman, complete with beads, a wig, a mask and fleur de lis. We made the snowman at home and they he wrote about it at school. I gave him a list of Mardi Gras words to use. He did a great job!

A View from 35,000 Feet

I had a business trip to Vegas in mid February (over Mardi Gras :(  ) but I got some cool pictures flying over New Mexico and Arizona.
