Tricia Court Opening Day
March 12 was a beautiful day and thus deemed Tricia Court Opening Day. We celebrated opening day in grand style with children playing outside from noon to 8, fire cooked chili, hot dogs, marshmallows and FUN! And cool chemicals that turn the fire fun colors.

Mommy and Nick Zoo Date
Nick and I have a very limited number of mommy and Nick days left before Ben is out of school and then Nick starts kindergarten in August :( So, we took one of our days and went to the zoo for a brief trip. Nick got to run the show. We saw the aquarium (but wouldn't do the touch tank), saw the elephants, the construction on the giraffe's feeding area, tried to figure out where the grisly bears are going to be and saw the Tasmanian devils. Holy cow - I have never heard a noise like those things make! It was the most awful, blood curdling, screeching banshee cry I've ever heard. A little boy standing next to the exhibit burst into tears, which was the appropriate response, in my opinion.

Swim Lessons Recap
We have been continuing swim lessons this winter. Both boys are getting much better at swimming. I think, with a bit more practice, Ben will be able to swim the length of the pool this summer. He has swam the length twice with a thin swim belt on, so he's making a lot of progress. And Nick has been learning his front and back strokes. He can doggy paddle pretty well.

Looking Shnazzy for Picture Day
Nick wanted to look nice for picture day. I gave him a few options, but he picked out the lightening bolt tie and dress shirt.

The Exploding Volcano
Nick got an exploding volcano set for his birthday and was eager to try it out. A little vinegar and baking soda later, and BOOM! exploding volcano. The boys loved it. And it was super easy clean up!

The Star Wars Theme
In addition to the gynmastics center, Nick also got a Star Wars theme. I made a BB-8 cake, we had an R2-D2 giant balloon, BB-8 balloons, and lots of decorations.
Parachute Fun
Birthday party fun with the giant parachute. Who doesn't love the parachute? The birthday boy got to sit in the middle and everyone spun around him and then pulled really hard to 'unwind' him.
