The ferocious swimming elkhound when fishing and swimming while on our walk one evening. She had no luck catching any fish, and as you can imagine, she smelled delightful afterwards...

Catching Lightening Bugs
It's not summer until you and all the kids in the neighborhood run around in the dark catching lightening bugs!
Backyard Sprinkler Fun
Some backyard fun after dinner. We had to run Nick out after learning the hard way, he does not take well to red dye. Cold water and chasing/being chased helped alleviate the symptoms.

Seriously, Again!
Nick had his days confused last week. He got his bad boo-boo on Thursday instead of Friday (note, we are going on 3 out of 5 weeks here and Ben has covered the off weeks with black eyes). This time, he was just walking along, on the sidewalk and then BOOM! Face into the cement. It looked much worse the next day when his eye was all swollen and then it started to scab over. He's going to be the death of me.

Dinner Time Prayer
Ben says a prayer before eating at school and we say it often at home, too. Nick likes to start it out now. It goes, 'Hands Up, Hands Folded, Hands Down. God is Great, God is Good, Let us thank Him for our Food. Amen'

How Do Dinosaurs Say I'm Mad
Nick LOVES this book, 'How Do Dinosaurs Say I'm Mad'. We got it from the library, along with 'How do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight' and we read one of them almost every night. At every page, Nick answers the book with 'Nooooooo' and he is starting to memorize the end part. This is a dark video, just for the audio. He's so cute :)

Strawberries, Strawberries and More Strawberries!
Well, since we were right there, after our bike ride, we headed over to the U Pick strawberry field a few miles from Oak Openings. I had wanted to pick strawberries with the boys and this way Adam could come, too. We were directed to a spot on the opposite end of the field, all by ourselves. We picked 14lbs in less than 10 minutes. That doesn't count the pound or so the boys ate while picking. I'm not a huge strawberry fan, but I will say, these strawberries were amazing!! We pretty much didn't have to move. You could pick pounds just sitting in one spot. Apparently strawberries are pretty hardy to survive the terrible winter and still be so tasty!
Note to self: Never let Ben pick strawberries in anything but a black shirt from now on! Add strawberry stain to my list of wonderful laundry miracles.

A Father's Day Bike Ride
Adam had to work both Saturday and a bit of Sunday for Father's day weekend this year. It put a crimp in other plans we had, but Adam was able to leave early on Sunday so we got to enjoy the day with him. He wanted to go for a family bike ride at Oak Openings. Now that Nick has a big boy bike, it's feasible. However, a 3 year old on a 12" bike as compared to me on a 29" bike - a bit rough. I turned on my gps - Nick and I rode 2.8 miles with a pace of 17:50. I walk faster than that. It was a bit rough. But Nick did the whole ride himself and only had one little stumble. Ben rode probably 5 or 6 miles. He and Adam were all over the place, lapping Nick and I. It was a beautiful day and perfect weather!

Last Spring Soccer Game
Ben has finished up soccer season for the spring. He ended up doing very well on the team. He is definitely an offensive player. He really likes to score! We just need to work on staying on our feet while running in grass. And running with our mouth closed. He must have swallowed 10 bugs the way his jaw was flapping around!
