Last week started the outdoor soccer session. We only signed Ben up this session since Nick wasn't into it. One boy that was on Ben's indoor team is also on his outdoor team, which is really nice since they play very well together. Ben has a great time playing. He scored two goals during his first game. The outdoor soccer has a practice once a week, so Ben is now getting to play twice a week, which he also enjoys. He's pretty aggressive on the field. We just need to work on him not falling down so much! He is constantly falling down. I'm not sure if it's the bumps in the ground, his shoes or purely being uncoordinated!
The boys have finally been introduced to little legos. They have spent entire days doing nothing but playing with legos. Ben even took something he built to school for show and tell.
He is quite good at falling off his bike, especially since he hasn't figured out how to stop without falling/jumping off. He has only cried once after a fall and that was more tired related.
Adam took Ben's training wheels off last weekend! Our neighbor (who is a year older) had her taken off the week before, so there was some motivation (read: competition). Within 10 minutes, Ben was riding around the circle by himself. After practicing several times, he can get going pretty quickly, but still needs help getting started. And he doesn't know how to stop yet either. But he can ride in a circle for several minutes! Hopefully we'll get lots of practice in this weekend and he'll learn how to start up by himself and ride on the sidewall.
For his birthday this year, Adam was on his boys camping/fishing trip. So, the boys sent him a video birthday card. They were supposed to just say happy birthday, but Ben elaborated on what he was going to get daddy for his birthday.
Last week was the last indoor soccer game for Ben (and technically Nick, too). Nick did actually warm up a bit and kick the ball around until more kids came. Ben had a good game, but they played a pretty tough team. There was a happy ending to the game, though - a soccer medal! Nick even got one, too! Even though he only played a tiny bit of one game, Nick was very, very excited about his medal.
The boys each got a zip flier thing from the Easter Bunny. Nick was smart enough to ask for help. Ben, not so much and he ended up cutting his eyelid with the flier (but it was kind of like a paper cut and a non-issue to Ben).
After finding Easter baskets and Ben doing his Legos, we headed to Milan, where the Easter Bunny had also made a visit and left some goodies! The boys got new spring clothes, bubbles, puzzles/art stuff and zip fliers. The Easter Bunny also hid some eggs in the backyard. The boys had fun running around finding the eggs!
Note how Nick really pulls off the vest, bow tie and untucked shirt look very well. The kid does wear preppy well. And he kept that bow tie on almost all day.
