Australia and Alaska

Last Monday the boys and I went to the zoo (in the rain) to see the new Australia Walk About exhibits and of course the baby polar bears! Nick was super excited about the baby wallabies. We went to see them first. It is a 'walk-about' exhibit, so the wallabies are just out in the open with the visitors. They have 2 adults, 10 juvinelles and 1 baby, Willa, who is 7 months old. Willa gets carried in a Moby wrap by the keepers several times a day. Nick loved them! He was all excited when they were jumping and hopping and wresting with each other. (I think he was getting new ideas for how to attack Ben)

Ben has been waiting for the giant crocodile for months. We call him Tick Tock Croc. He is a saltwater croc from Australia and 17 feet long. He was removed from the wild due to a large number of cattle disappearing...

It's kind of hard to see, but this is a belly print of the croc. You can see in the lower left corner where he dug his claws in to move.

The baby otters were pretty feisty!

One of the best sights - ducks swimming in the hippo pool! People were way more excited by the mama and baby ducks than the otters or hippos! Those little babies following their mama, were really cute!

I don't know about a dingo eating a baby. They are pretty small and scrawny. They are way smaller than Monster

Awwww, they are soooo cuuutteee (as Ben would say)

Playtime!!

Enjoying the fruits of their sand moving labors!

Thank you, Grandma and Dzaidzui!

Thank you, Grandma and Dzaidziu for the awesome sandbox!! :)

With A Little Help From Our Friends

Ben recruited some friends to help move the sand. Smart kid - he enticed them with the idea of playing in the sand and got as many as he could so they could move the sand faster. He had every able bodied child on the cul de sac working!

Move That Sand!

Sunday, Adam and Dzaidziu worked to build the 10x10 sandbox in the backyard. It turned out great! Once the construction was done, though, it was time to move the sand. Nick hadn't been feeling so good in the morning, but he managed to take one load.

Ben had been waiting all day to move sand. It was his shining moment.

It's Sand Time!

This weekend was the big sandbox weekend (the boys' birthday present from Grandma and Dziadziu)! It started with the delivery of the sand. The Sandman truck delivered 3 tons of sand!! It didn't look like that much sand on the driveway, but it definitely was all of 3 tons when Adam went to move it into the sandbox!

A Very Pretty Sunset

One of the nice things about iPhones - being able to take pictures of the sunset while walking the dog. Last week there were a gorgeous sunset!

Backyard Camping

Last Saturday Adam promised the boys they could camp out in the backyard. Well....daddy had a rough night around the campfire (to say the least), so I thought the camping was going to be cancelled, but Ben was crying and upset, so Adam did end up letting him sleep in the tent. I didn't get any good pictures, though. These were taken the morning after when the boys were playing in the tent, jumping on the air mattresses.

Maybe It's Time for a Haircut

Last Friday I decided it might be time for some haircuts. I demonstrated just how long the boys' hair was by putting little ponytails in their hair :) Ben even wore his to the salon.

And the after! Isn't he just so handsome! :)
