Motoring Around

After a morning at the swamp, Ben spent some time after lunch playing with the neighbor's grandson. Ben and Baxter went tooling around the cul de sac in Baxter's jeep.

After a full day of swamp adventures and Jeep driving, someone took a llllloooooonnnnngggg nap! Woohoo!

No! You Can't Make Me!

Ahh, Nick is hitting his stride in the joys of two-year-old-hood. While on our walk at the swamp, he did not want to sit in the stroller. Well, as you can see from pictures, you have to be very careful of the wildlife because they can be really close, or even on, the trail. So Nick was instructed to hold someone's hand. His response? NO. and No. and nnnnnnoooooo. To further illustrate his position on the matter, he walked with his arms crossed so no one could even attempt to hold his hand.

Ben Wolny, Alligator Hunter!

Last Monday we took a trip to the swamp so Ben could go alligator hunting. Ben ran down the trail yelling, "I'm Ben, the alligator hunter! Stay behind me!" When we found our first alligator, Ben pulled out his trusty binoculars and field journal to inspect the specimen and take notes. It was a good hunt for Ben Wolny, Alligator Hunter. He found 2 alligators, two snakes, a hand full of lizards and a squirrel.

Then we found the second alligator, that was closer to use than the first.

So, we were standing on the boardwalk looking for alligators when I look down at my feet and see this! No joke, it was 2 feet from me. Scared the beegeezes out of me!

This snake was at least in the water and more like 4 feet away.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Last Saturday we headed Uptown to see the St. Patrick's Day parade. Grandpa's work is conveniently located on the parade route, so we parked only a block away from our parade spot. It was a great spot - not crowded, good parade-watching neighbors and good throws! Overall, it was a great parade!

Ben was getting a little impatient waiting for the parade. There was still traffic on the road for about 45 minutes after we set up shop, so the boys were pretty confined until they closed the road.

Aunt Sarah tried to entertain them while we waited.

Once the street was closed, Nick took advantage of sitting on the curb.

And then the parade finally got to us! Nick wasn't quite sure what to think, especially the loud motorcycles and dune buggies.

But he did get an awesome throw - these Oz glasses! They are totally awesome. I think they are 3D glasses, but he wears them all the time.

Nick with some throws including a cabbage! They are no longer allowed to throw full sized carrots and potatoes any more on this parade :(

Sarah and Lizzie got a lot of flowers from the walking drunk Irish men. Somehow they all ended up on Doug, which Ben thought was the funniest thing ever.

Ben made bbf's with our parade neighbor - just some random man, but Ben took to him!

Some little boys were getting very, very tired toward the end of the parade, but he was happy with his Lucky Charms throw.

Yup, didn't even make it out of the parking garage before they were both out cold!
