A Top 3 Elkhound Moment

Monster has official taken a place on the Elkhound top 3 list. Bear still holds the top 2 spots with the face dangling ground hog and the living room raccoon kill. But back to Monster. Tuesday night around 10, I was editing vacation pictures and Adam was already in bed when I heard 'The Bark'. Now I am not all that familiar with Monster's Death Bark because I have only heard it once or twice, but I knew something was not right. I went to the back door to let her in when Wham! I got smacked in the face with putrid skunk smell. Then I saw the dead skunk in the middle of the back yard. I ran into the bedroom, said, 'We have a problem' and made Adam get out of bed. I then ran outside, grabbed the dog and hauled her upstairs for a bath. Adam's job was to bag the skunk then find every tomato product we had in the house. Monster received a 45 minute bath of tomato soup, tomato sauce and tomato paste. It was nasty. After 45 minutes, she had a reddish tint and there was fur everywhere, but I had gotten most of the smell out of her. You can't smell it if she walks by you, but if you get up on her, you can still smell it a bit. There is a very faint smell when you first walk in the house, but the odor absorbing candles and air fresheners seem to be helping with that. I can still smell it a bit by the deck when the wind blows just right, but compared to the initial attack, it's nothing.
I believe Monster was proud of her kill, but boy did she pay for it! I don't think she'll be looking for skunks again any time soon!

A Good Day At T-Ball

After a little bit of a rough start in which Adam and I had to go out onto the field with him, Ben finally really got into t-ball this week. He did much better playing outfield. He ran after the ball, did a good job throwing it and ran the bases after the game.

Team Effort

Riding the big wheel is a team effort.

Beach Vacation '12: The Beach Grand Finale - Fireworks, Part II

Our last night, Friday, the Perdido Beach Club, located a few doors down, had a small fireworks show. Again, we had a perfect view from our balcony. We took a little break from packing to watch the show, which was pretty good. Ben called these, 'his fireworks'. Apparently, the show was put on purely for his benefit.

And this concludes our Orange Beach vacation. There will be one more post coming - pictures from the professional photographer we had taken. I should have them in a few weeks.

Beach Vacation '12: A Hop, A Pop, And A Silly Little Boy

Friday morning it was raining, so we tried out the indoor pool. Ben was swimmed-out from Thursday, so he stayed in the condo to relax while Nick and I went to the pool. The pool was 3-4 feet deep, so Nick couldn't walk around, but it did have some ledges around the edge that he could walk on.

Nick walking along the ledge, do his pop, pop, hop

I taught Nick how to jump in the pool. And then that's all he wanted to do. I could barely put him on the side of the pool before he was back in the water!

Beach Vacation '12: Swimming in the Bay

We found a little beach to go swimming. It was pretty warm, and we were all in need of a good dip in the water. Ben had fun swimming in the water while Nick had more fun playing in the sand and rolling in the water.

Beach Vacation '12: The Dolphins!

We only saw a group of dolphins once while out on the boat. They were chasing a shrimping/fishing boat, so we got to get pretty close to them.
