Put In Bay

Last Sunday we took a family trip to Put-in-Bay. It was a beautiful day for the Bay! We took the Miller Ferry over and then rented a bus of a golf cart that fit all 8 of us. The boys have to be in car seats. Here is Nick giving me a cheesy smile. He loved riding in the golf cart
He wasn't so happy about the stroller, but that's because he just wanted food.
Getting better because he knows the food is coming. He ate like a little piggy on the island.
Full(ish) tummy! And a happy little boy

Nick under the table at the Heineman's Winery
We are calling this a 'generations' photo. Grandma, mommy and Nick's calves. They are all built the same.
Poor Donnie - he was in charge of retrieval of items dis-guarded from the moving golf cart. We only had a few :)  And we did stop the cart, for the most part, when he hopped off.

Cooling off in the lake - it felt so good! Luckily the friendly snakes stayed away!
The bus...I mean golf cart.
Heading back to the main land on the ferry.

Happy Anniversary, Grandma and Grandpa!

This weekend was my parent's 40th wedding anniversary. We all had a great weekend together. An official 40th anniversary picture. I'm actually quite impressed with how well it came out. Nick isn't looking at the camera, but hey, you work with what you've got.

The boys stayed home with a sitter while we went out to dinner with some of my parent's friends who were at their wedding 40 years ago. But from what my grandpa used to tell Sarah and I, I think my parents were the only ones at the table that actually remember much from the wedding. It was apparently a very good party.
My mom had daisies in her bouquet, so Sarah and I usually get them daisies on their anniversary. This year they had glitter and pizzazz

The Vette :)

Sarah's boyfriend, Donnie, got a new toy this week - a 1980 Corvette. It's pretty choice. Sarah and Donnie were look'n vintage in it on Saturday. They're cool like that.

Garage Sale Day

Saturday was our annual garage sale day. It is neighborhood pandemonium! Nick kept Sarah and I company during the afternoon shift. I don't know where Ben was. Maybe he was sleeping.
Nick's job was to look cute and sell his old clothes
But he took a few breaks for phone calls and the such
He couldn't believe Aunt Sarah let a sale get away!
Just kidding! He's just being silly!

Carousel Ride

Grandma and Aunt Sarah took the boys on a carousel ride at the zoo on Friday. Sarah wrangled Nick while Grandma just had to hold onto Ben.

Nick started off on the warthog, but must have thought the was too good for the warthog, because he wanted off.
So then he tried the bench. He wasn't super excited about that either, but Aunt Sarah persuaded him to stick with it.

Oh! Is that a smile I see?? Maybe...
Ben also had to change it up a few times. He had to walk around the entire carousel once, picked the zebra, got situated, and then decided he didn't want to ride the zebra. So he moved to what appears to be a hippo.

Crazy Times on the African Savanna

It all started out nice and peaceful on the savanna. The animals were all milling about, checking out the scene.
And then the zebra got a little frisky
And then the impala's got in on it
The little baby giraffe was just like, 'What's going on, guys?'
And then the impalas went crazy - running and jumping and going all out!
 Go, baby, go!

Getting the birds all riled up, including the stupid ostrich (not pictured)!
 He started it all!

Family Day At the Zoo

This weekend my parents and Sarah came up to visit. It was my parent's 40th anniversary (more on that in a different post). Friday morning we took the boys to the zoo so everyone could see all the baby animals and the new Tembo Trail.
That baby Lucas is just so darn cute!
Ben was far more interested in the zoo keepers cleaning the elephant house
New to the zoo - Camels!

The baby lemurs where out from under their mommy's belly and playing

Police Car Puzzle

Ben loves doing a set of Rescue Squad puzzles he got from Uncle Paul (Adam's uncle). The set includes a police car, a fire truck, tow truck and helicopter. Ben has mastered the police car now. He can put it together all by himself. The other puzzles have a few more pieces and are a little bit more challenging, so he is still working on doing them by himself.

How Long Will They Last??

Less than a week. I'll be lucky if they make it though the weekend. And I'm having fun with Sarah's phone!

Mud

The boys played outside with Aunt Sarah this afternoon. Of course the boys found the mud...

Something to do with the Sun and Venus

or something like that. When I got home today, Adam had the telescope out, looking at the sun reflection in a notebook. He was looking at Venus or something, tracking in front of the sun. And it just so happened that as I was taking a picture of the itty bitty little dot on the corner of the sun (the bright white circle with the tiny dot @ 11 o'clock), a plane flew overhead and I just barely got it in the shot. It was like a 1 in a million shot. Adam actually sent the picture to a blog he follows, Bad Astronomy, and the blogger is going to post it on his blog (which is why there is a watermark on the picture).  Here is the link to the website. Our picture is the 5th one in the slide show.

Fish Feeding with Aunt Sarah

Sunday brought with it visitors - Aunt Sarah and Donnie! Donnie had to continue on his way to Detroit for work, but Aunt Sarah stayed with us for a few days. Sunday night we walked over to feed the fish. Ben had on his mis-match jammies and his fire boots. It's a fashion statement.
Monster has to get tried to the tree. She actually did hurt my arm pulling me to get into the pond and get the fish
I think this was one of the carp. The carp are probably 12 to 18 inches long. The cat fish are even bigger.
