The Swingset - Step 2: Breaking It In

Ben was taking a nap when the guys moved the swing set, so he didn't get to play on it until a few hours after the move. First he started out on the dolphin swing. Starting small and moving on to big.
Then he tried out the 'bumpy' slide
And then Nick tried out the slide, too. He is dangerous up there, though. He's a little not careful and almost fell off.
Oh, but the ladder rungs are too far apart for stumpy little Nick. Oh darn. I'm so sad about that.

The Swingset - Step 1: Installation

This weekend we inherited a really nice swingset from our neighbors. Their daughters have outgrown it, and Pat was tired of mowing around it, and it is perfect for Ben and Nick. Adam asked our friend Jeff and his coworker, Ikera (he's from Japan), to come over and help. In all, they had 5 guys to move the swingset up and over the fence. It doesn't come apart, so I was a little nervous, but it actually wasn't bad at all. It took them like 3 minutes, once they took the slide off. I didn't want to be obnoxious and out there taking pictures, so I attached the stalker-scope lens and stayed in the house. So there is some foliage to look through in these pictures.

Step 1: Assess the situation
Step 2: One side over the fence
Take a little break, catch our breath
Step 3: Lift Men! Lift!
Step 4: Tada!
And now swing it around into position...

Mulching

Adam had a VERY large load of mulch delivered on Friday. He and Ben spent most of Saturday morning distributing it to the gardens. Ben was quite the helper. And the gardens look very nice :)

Playing Outside

Some picture from playing outside last week.

Nicholas's 'Why hello, ladies' pose
Ben talking to Carter and Jenna...
Ben trying to get on eye-level with Carter...

And now we know that Ben can scale the fence. Awesome.

Boys in Trees

Boys in trees. Hmmmph

Cousin Eva

Ok, I'm a terrible aunt for it to take me a week to post these pictures! Ben and Nick would like to introduce their new cousin, Eva Christina (Eva pronounced like Evelyn, but without the lyn). Eva was born Friday 5/4 and weighed in at 5lbs 8oz. She's a peanut! And she has WAY more hair than Nick. I don't expect that to change any time soon. Ben was very excited. He rubbed her feet and kept saying 'Awww, she's so cccuuutttee' in his high pitched voice. Nick wasn't too interested. He can't eat her, so it doesn't register on his radar. All he cares about these days is food. But, give it a few months, and they will all be playing together!

My Poor Laundry Baskets

They suffer such abuse. They are cars, trains, tunnels, turtle shells, and now they have to hold daddy AND two little boys? Guess I should write Rubbermaid a letter praising them for their quality product if it can withstand all that.

Ready To Roll!

He's got his helmet, can climb on the bike by himself and can just barely reach the petals - he's ready to ride!

A Quiet Saturday Morning

A Few More Babies

There are a lot of new babies around here these days, including this cute baby lemur! I think this one was born 4/7, and his two cousins were born 4/8. Sooooo stink'n cute!
