Happy Easter!

First, I must say, Ben's Easter gift to Adam and I, was to sleep in to 7am. It was the best gift ever.
After we got up, dressed and off to church, we came home, ate breakfast and looked for Easter baskets. The Easter bunny brought quite a bit of stuff, so there were multiple things to look for. Each got a little bit of candy in their basket then Ben got a soccer ball, a Thomas game, Gater golf and a Gnome sand bucket set. The Easter bunny left Nick a fire truck (that can go outside), a mini basketball hoop, a set of sand toys and a Gnome sand bucket set! The Easter bunny left pictures of the boys on their presents so they would know who the gift was for.

Then we packed up and headed to Grandma and Grandpa Wolny's for dinner. The Easter bunny had visited Grandma's house, too! The boys got a bug/fishing net, a folding chair, a ribbon wand, a bubble gun and a few other sand toys. Ben is very excited to use his new net for fishing in a few weeks. We haven't broken out the bubble gun yet. Once that is introduced, I'm pretty sure it's all I'm going to hear about for a few weeks.

You Mean These Blocks?

The boys playing blocks. Notice how Nick tries to prevent Ben for using any of the blocks still in the box by sitting on them.

Ben's tower...
And Nick coming in for the destruction. The little paw was going for the chef hat on top of the tower. He waited until Ben had moved away from his tower a bit before he lunged for it. Nick won. The tower was destroyed and he made off with the chef hat.

Coloring Eggs

Saturday, after his 4 hour nap, Ben and I colored eggs. I was pretty excited because I felt I had a very good system this year, thanks to Pinterest. We used mason jars (tall and sturdy), gel food color (vibrant colors even when your child only has the patience to dip an egg for 15 seconds), and a clamp-style whisk to hold the eggs. Good system for a 3 year old.

Ben wasn't too happy that he had to wait for the water to heat up. [Side note: the green and pink jars are my glitter/time out jars I made this weekend - more on that to come]

Practicing his egg handling technique with the bunny egg holder

Finally! Some action!

And mommy got in on the action too - thanks to the handy dandy remote shutter release and tripod

The look of concentration as he tried to 'gently' place the egg in the jar using the bunny egg holder. I like the puffed up cheeks

Gently putting the egg in the jar...

Success!

Oohing over our pretty eggs

Animal Egg Hunt at the Zoo

Friday morning I took the boys to the zoo for the animal egg hunt. Adam stayed home and worked on the yard and his load of dirt. We went over to see the monkeys get their eggs. They were very entertaining! We also saw the gorillas and orangutans. As we were leaving, we ran into Lily, Susan and Scott, who were also leaving, and all headed to lunch together, which was a very nice ending to the morning! The boys then took very long naps - woohoo!

Ben's Dream Come True

Adam decided to expand his garden this year, and with that got a load of dirt delivered. First thing Friday morning, a dump truck came and dropped a load of dirt in our drive way. Ben was WAY excited, seeing as it is his life's mission to move dirt.

A Day With Daddy

I spent the day in Cleveland celebrating Andrea's baby shower, so Adam and the boys had a day all to themselves. Adam had decided to take them to Bass Pro Shop to get a new fishing pole for Ben. He did some research and found out that the Easter Bunny was at BPS today. So, after feeding the boys, he packed them up and headed over to BPS. After a bit of shopping, in which Ben got a new fishing pole and Nick got some giant bobbers, they headed over to the Easter Bunny. Well, shockingly, Ben wanted nothing to do with it, even though he had been talking about it all morning. He hid under the canopy of the stroller. Nick was a bit better, but had to have daddy next to him. And look! Daddy even put his Easter clothes on him, without even knowing that this is what he would be wearing next week!!! What a good daddy! They then came home and took naps (I think daddy took a nap, too). Then played outside a bit, yada yada yada... And then another first! Daddy gave the boys a bath all by himself without me asking him to!! It was a milestone day all around.

Why, You Look Like A Tasty Treat

I put Nick right up to the glass of this fish, which was easily twice his size. The fish came right up to Nick, face to face, and moved it's mouth in a 'mmmmm, you look tasty' kind of way!

Nick and the big, ugly fish, eye-to-eye

A Trip to the Zoo

Yesterday we took a little trip to the zoo. The gorillas were having a good time. The silverback was cracking me up with his posture. Ben calls him the mean monkey. You can't really blame him - he does look a little rough.

I got a few pictures of the boys on the tiger statue, but not quite what I was going for.

The baby tigers sleeping with their mommy. They are not so little anymore!!

An neither is baby Louie, the big brother elephant. He's getting very big and his new exhibit is opening in 6 weeks. Ben is very excited to see the new elephant enclosure!

Attaching king crab! Those things are gianormous!

Pictures with Mommy

Nick and I played around with the shutter remote the other day. Disclaimer: It was a little impromptu, so mommy wasn't exactly looking her best :)
