The Baby Elephant!

We finally made it to the zoo to see the baby elephant! He's soooo darn cute! He was about 300ish pounds at birth and like human babies, lost a little weight after birth but now should be putting on 2-3 lbs a day for the next several years (I think the guy said 5 years). Hmmm, and I'm lucky if my kids put on 1-2 lbs a month.

We learned how baby elephants drink milk from their mommy's just like Nick. The orangutans also reinforced that concept later on in the day. Ahh, zoological education. Though nursing mothers is better than some of the other animal education you get that the zoo sometimes.

Ben got to play on one of the playsets at the zoo. He had a super good time playing with the other kids.

And Nick hung out in the shade, trying not to think about how much his teeth hurt.

Chomper!

And after 4 days of anxious awaiting, Nick's first tooth popped though today! It's the little white spec on his bottom gum in the picture. I'm really hoping the tooth is what has been causing him to be so snotty and coughy lately. And I really hope that tonight we will all sleep through the night now that the tooth has broken through!

Must Have Been A Rough Day

It must have been a rough day at Sharon's. Ben fell asleep in the car on the way home. Normally he wakes up when I get him out of the car. But for the first time ever, that was not the case tonight. I laid him down on the couch at 7 and moved him to bed at 8:45 and he is still out. He was one very tired little boy!

Pedal To The Metal!

Ben can now pedal his bike! He hasn't quite perfected his technique yet, but the fundamentals are there. And if he starts to get too fast, I'll put some duck tape on the tires - sticky side out.

ExerSaucer

Another excellent garage sale buy - the ExerSaucer. Both boys seem to love it. Nick has lots of room to grow into it, but he was fascinated the second I put him in it. He grabbed onto the snail toy and wouldn't let go. It was funny to watch him when he realized that the seat rotated and that there was even more stuff to look at on the other side. And then Ben had to help and show him how all the toys worked. Notice how the saucer part is also an excellent coaster for Ben's cup.

Cedar Point - Wolny Style

Cedar Point for infants. That's what big brothers are for.

Fun With Toys

Nick has become very interested in his toys recently. Apparently the people at Baby Einstein really know their stuff because Nick loves the octopus as much as Ben did. He also loves playing with his elephant on the car seat and lion on the stroller

First Trip to the Pool

After a long, hot day of garage saling, it was time to hit up the Perrysburg pool. And well, there was no slowing down at the pool. Ben was crazy running around, checking out all the different parts of the pool, like the diving boards and slide. Adam and I had to take turns chasing him while the other sat with Nick in the shade. Ben has absolutely no fear of the water. He was walking in the pool in about chest deep water and tripped and went under. I was right behind him, but he flailed a bit but then started to swim before I pulled him up (all in about the course of 2 seconds). But he popped up, I calmly asked him if he was ok and he said yes and was off again. Nick even dipped his tootsies in and liked it, even with the cold water.

Garage Saling

This weekend was the big neighborhood garage sale. It was quite the success. We sold quite a bit of stuff and also found a lot of good deals. I got an exersaucer for Nick, a pack n play for the in-laws, a bunch of books, Adam got a mini fridge for the garage and Ben got a big play shark, a Tonka dump truck and two hard hats-one for him and one for Nick. Ben had a very good time because he got to be outside all day Saturday. He actually spent most of the day in the neighbors' garage or at least stalking it.

A Preview

A little preview of Ben for Auntie Dre's upcoming wedding (and a little bit of fun with photoshop). I found a little seersucker suit today for Ben to wear to the wedding. It's kind of ridiculously cute :) Now I just have to find something for Nick...

Horse Ride

A farm about 2 miles from the house was having horse rides today. I wasn't sure how Ben would react, but he's been really into horses lately, so I figured we'd give it a try. He loved it! He went around the pen twice with daddy walking beside him and then went to see the horses in the field.

Speedbump

So much for that. Nick now goes up and over the boppy pillow.

So I put him on his back and strap him into the boppy and what does he do? A back bend. If he can get his feet underneath him, he can pretty much launch himself. He cannot be trusted in a bouncy seat at all - something Sharon found out when Nick almost leaped out of his chair at daycare.

Happy Baby!

An Evening Snack

An evening snack of yogurt while reading the zoo newsletter. Ben is VERY excited about the new baby elephant at the zoo! They have videos of the baby (it's a boy) on YouTube that he now loves to watch. It really is a cute little baby elephant. Hopefully he will make is public debut soon!
