3 Months

Nick is 3 months old already!! He's getting so big, so fast!

Bumbo Chair

Nick has pretty good neck/shoulder control these days, so I thought we'd see how he did in the bumbo chair. He does pretty well, but for now he only stays in it for about 10 minutes at a time before he gets tired. He really likes looking at toys and reaching for things in it, though!

Ghetto Super Conductor

If you remember, Ben got a fun train conductor's costume from Cameryn for his birthday. I had put it away in his room and he found it the other morning. He had to put it on and wear it to Sharon's that day, including the whistle. I thought it was hilarious, especially since he had the hat on backwards and crooked.

A Visit with Cousins

Last weekend we had a bridal shower for Auntie Dre. Auntie Ann, Auntie Gwen and cousins Erin and Lauren came out for the shower. It was the first time they got to meet Nick. We'll get to see them again in a month for Auntie Dre and Uncle Kevin's wedding!

Back to Work :(

Last Wednesday was my first day back to work :( And of course Ben and Nick both knew this and decided that I did not need sleep the night before. So, I went to work on 3 hours of sleep, having woken up at 4am and never going back to sleep.

BUT...then I got to work and had a huge surprise waiting for me - A 30th birthday/ welcome back party! My co-works threw me a Mardi Gras themed belated birthday party / welcome back party with lots and lots of decorations, balloons, and of course food. Needless to say, I got absolutely no work done, but it was definitely a much better way to spend the day when only going on 3 hours of sleep.

Part of my decorations was a crazy mardi gras wig and crown which I shared with Ben.
And then the next night, Nick decided to sleep in, and I woke up an hour late and only had 30 minutes to get out the door. These kids are definitely doing their best to mess with me.

What To Do? Go To the Zoo!

You can never have too much zoo, right?

Angry Enough to Run (Scootch) Away

So Tuesday Nick got so angry he rolled himself over during tummy time. On Friday he got so angry he was moving counterclockwise around the play mat 360 degrees. On Saturday he was so angry he scootched himself 2 feet off the play mat, turned himself 180 degrees and moved another foot or two. The big arrow on the picture below shows where he started, in front of the elephant mat, facing it. By the time I finally gave in and picked him up, he was on the outside of the play mat and almost a foot behind it.

And then being the ever helpful (when the mood strikes him) brother, Ben brought Nick the elephant mat to make him happy. But first he had to stop for a close up. Actually, Nick does like it when Ben gets in his face during tummy time. Several times now, if he starts to get fussy and Ben gets on the floor and in his face, Nick starts smiling and laughing.

Backyard Fun and Games

Cameryn came over on Friday for some neighborhood fun. First the kids went for a 'bike ride' around the block on their tricycles (whoever invented the push handle for trikes is a genius). Then they played in the sandbox for a while. And after their faces were both bright red from heat and they were sweating profusely, they played in the sprinkler.

Sprinkler Fun

It's a bit early in the season yet, but Grandma B sent up a fun sprinkler/pool for the boys and it was in the mid 70's today, so I let Ben play with it. And he loved it! I wasn't sure how he would react because he did not like sprinklers last year, but he had a great time with this one. When you step on the mat, it increases the pressure so the water 'jumps' which was pretty funny. He also transported sand over to the pool. And then for a little extra excitement, we brought the slide over. Little stinker would stop himself before going all the way into the water, though. Until the last time down the slide when he didn't catch himself and ended up splashing into the water! That would be the last picture :)

Water Mat Tummy Time

My mom found this tummy time water mat for Nick. Since Nick hasn't been so keen on staying on his tummy now that he can roll over, I thought we'd see if it would hold his attention. And sure enough, he stayed on his tummy and played for a bit.

Today's Activities

For today's activity, I decided since it was such a nice day, we would go to the zoo. You can never have too much zoo, right? So we saw the giraffes and monkeys and Nemo and elephant and hippos. Check out this crazy hippo playing with it's ball. Ben did not care for it. You can hear him screaming No as he tried to get as far away from the hippo while I was still holding him. I'm not sure why he freaks out sometimes with animals.

And then because he was such a good boy at the zoo - never complained once or gave me trouble when it was time to go back into the stroller - I decided he could have nuggets and fries for lunch. So we had a little picnic on his new picnic table, which he liked a lot.

Big Brother Helper

Ben was quite the big brother helper this morning. First Ben asked to hold Nick, then he asked to feed him his bottle. For some reason, he really likes to hold Nick in the morning, right after he wakes up. And then once he gets it out of his system, he pretty much ignores Nick the rest of the day.

I love how Nick is looking at me, like, "Help! Are you crazy?! What are you thinking letting Ben hold my bottle!"

It's Time to Roll!

It's time to start rollin'! Nick will only tolerate tummy time for so long before he gets mad. Today he got mad enough to roll himself over. And once he started, he didn't stop. He rolled over 4 times today - every time he is on his tummy. Now I'm just waiting for him to put together the rolling from side to side on his back and the tummy to back rolling and start going places.

Happy Mother's Day!

My annual Mother's Day picture. Of course, the boys were not cooperating, but what's new there. We spent the day at Grandma and Grandpa Wolny's. It was Nick's first trip to Milan. The boys got me a very pretty amethyst necklace and earrings. Amethyst is Nick's birthstone. You can see the necklace in the last picture.

Do You Think That Is Comfortable?

Ben sound asleep.
