The 577 Discovery

There is a place in Perrysburg that I have heard of, but for some reason have never made it over there. It is called the 577 Foundation. It is on the river and is a historic house with huge gardens and a path down to the river. The Friday after Labor Day (the 97° day), Nick and I went to check it out after taking Ben to school. Ben has a field trip to the 577 Foundation in a few weeks - it is only a block and a half from his school, so the kids can walk!

Well, this place is AWESOME! They have tons of stuff going on! There are community classes, a book exchange library, a fossil dig area, compost area, bees/honey, and lots and lots of gardens, including a children's interactive garden. Nick and I found the interactive garden - it has musical instruments, a small pond/stream, a little fairy garden, a hobbit hovel, tiny tables for kids - it's awesome! Nick didn't want to leave! Unfortunately, I forgot the bug spray and to say the mosquitoes were horrendous would be a major understatement. So we only stayed for about an hour. I'm really excited to check it out more as the season changes (and the mosquitoes die off).
